problems ripping cd's

I used to be able to rip CD's just fine but after I got my burner working properly by enabling scsi emulation audio cd tracks wont appear in Kaudio Creator, Grip or any other app that I use. What can I do to troubleshoot this?

I'm not sure I understand the issue -- is it that you used to be able to burn CD's using Grip, etc, but then added scsi emulation and now it doesn't work? If so, just set things back the way they were before when they worked. Or is it that you've always been able to rip the tracks to your hard drive, but couldn't burn them to CD, and now, with scsi emulation, the burning part works, but the ripping part won't? If so, can you describe the steps you took to enable scsi emulation? -- J.W.

Can you actually play a CD? Or mount a data CD? If not it's very likely you forgot to change the /dev/cdrom symlink. The old device would have been something like /dev/hdc but the new device should be something like /dev/scd0.
