Question My system can't display chinese correctly!

My system is Redhat9. I want to Intall compile qgis from source.And it need qt3.1.2 or later to support.But the redhat9 has installed qt3.1.1.So I have to update my QT.
I download the qt-3.3.4 and compile successfully.But after i add some environment variables,my system can't display chinese correctly.
What's wrong? Please help me.Thanks a lot!
