lossless jpeg join, crop'n'drop

I am trying to use this:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...15714#29615714

to join two jpeg files without recoding.

but, whenever I try to 'crop' image to larger size:

jpegtran -crop 512x256+0+0 -outfile O.jpg A.jpg

it says:
"Invalid crop request"
?

[using jpegtran from debian stable: libjpeg-turbo-progs (1:1.5.2-2 and others)]

I've just solved it by compiling from: https://github.com/cloudflare/jpegtran

yet another outdated debian sta(b)le

grr

edit: but now "-drop" dont work!
edit2: https://github.com/libjpeg-turbo/lib...urbo/issues/71
edit3: I've compiled it again from here: http://www.ijg.org/files/jpegsr9d.zip but now it lacks 'libjpeg.so.9'

it finally works. so I had to:

1. compile http://www.ijg.org/files/jpegsr9d.zip
2. manually install this: https://packages.debian.org/sid/amd64/libjpeg9/download into buster

edit: only problem left is if image size is not divisible by 16
oh well.
