Members, please stop any flame wars.

Use PM or email to voice directly to others not part of thread.

Please keep the thread on a technical basis.

Old thread, but what I did when I recently created a Windows 10 install USB is recompressed the install.wim file. On recent releases of Windows 10 the install.wim became too large for a FAT32 USB stick, and some (most? all?) PCs won't boot from an NTFS stick.

https://wimlib.net/ is a cross-platform free software library for working with WIM files. On Debian/Ubuntu the package is wimtools. Then the command

wimlib-imagex optimize install.wim --solid

Will make a wim file that's reduced in size and is still compatible with the Windows 10 installer.

Just copy everything else straight from the ISO to your USB stick, add the compressed install.wim, and job done.

There's other ways to make a W10 install USB from Linux, but this seemed like the simplest.

Microsoft's (bloody awful) "Media Creation Tool" gets round the 4 GB filesize limit by using a different format altogether.

Actually, while I did disagree somewhat with his post, my problem with it was not that it was off topic.

Contacting the maintainers of a package about behavior is a reasonable step. Please let us know what you find out.

Probably should have been the first step in his/her case as s/he only wants to use that specific software or s/he could have tried other suggestions in this thread by members. Continuing to post at a dead thread recently revived by someone else is probably not the best solution. And the OP was trying to get a windows iso on a usb and just happened to be trying woeusb which apparently, never did work for him.

Just got done installing woeusb from source on my ubuntu system and apparently this issue has been fixed in the latest woesusb. If built and installed from source woeusb gui has option to use fat32 or ntfs filesystem on usb.
https://github.com/slacka/WoeUSB
as per this https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2017/06/...-10-usb-ubuntu
The woeusb_3.3.0-1~webupd8~bionic0_amd64.deb from here also has ntfs option in gui mode. http://ppa.launchpad.net/nilarimogar...main/w/woeusb/
The gui will give an error about the install failing but the usb will still work.

Glad it looks fixed in the latest version.

Also, instructive to note that the title of the thread is VERY misleading. It was never about what Linux could or could not do, it was always only about this one application.

If the OP can update to the latest version, he can mark this "solved". If he cannot, then he still has the issue and may need additional advice.

I took a rest, then re-examined the thread. I do not see anywhere where I or anyone else "blamed you" for anything. Also, while I did not agree with the focus of your answer to my comments, I did not consider myself "called out" at any point.
I think you might both see and express an adversarial relationship that does not exist.
