I've seem Wine working fine once you have the game installed under Windows and then call it up on Linux using Wine. This just shows how pointless and hard to cofigure Wine is... If you are going to play games, then boot at windows and play it :). Win2k takes about 600 megas of you hard drive. M$ systems are crappy but they do, work great with games, once the games are made for them. Why should I keep fighting with libraries, fighting with installation, fighting with wine crashes if the main point of a game is to have fun? :). Besides, WineX is not following the "Free Open Software" thing for Linux...

There are things that only M$ does for you... to the others, use Linux :)

Oh yeah, don't think that I hate Wine or anything. I hope one day Wine will be good, fast, stable, userfrienly so I wont need to use M$ when I buy a hot new game as Postal 2 :). Or my favorite of all Times, Diablo Series. But so far, very very very few peoples could get it to run "just ok". It's still a long way to go though and I would happily pay them if they offer a good product, not a beta test one. If it's to use a beta, slow product, then I stick with Win2k for games :).

Don't waste your money.

i would hope that software companies would make native clients for linux someday instead of being "developers, developers, developers (ha ha ha!)" for microshit!

Microsoft aren't that bad, Windows may not be the most secure OS (understatement I know), but Office is rather good you have to admit.

As the saying goes, UNIX was built from the ground up, Windows was made from the top down.

Top meaning the GUI of course, bottom referring to efficient and solid code. That's not to say *nix is impenetrable and Windows isn't just a name.
