I would appreciate some tiny steps (or a site where the install is explained) as to how to install WINE so I can run a Windows program in Linux.

It depends on what distro you are running, and you haven't illuminated us on that point.

The first question I would have, is that, why do you need to use Wine? Is there not any Linux program that could do the same job?

Normally, it's just a matter of opening your package manager and installing the 'wine' package, then configure it for the Windows app you want to run. Your Linux distribution's website probably has information about doing it.

I am running Linux Mint Debiwn Edition 3 (Cindy) Cinnamon.

I have a Windows only program: Movieorganizer 2.86 in which I have my DVD's indexed: some 600+ movies. I have searched and there are no Linux programs into which I could move those files and entering over 600 movie titles pluse the infor which Movie Organizer adds via IMBd automatically.

I was able to use Crossover several years ago to open Movie Organizer and copy the data files and even add more into LMDE2 (Mate). Unfortunately, there was no way to upgrade from LMDE2 (Mate) to LMDE3 (Cinnamon) and Mate is not offered or planning to be offered as a Mate distro.

Finally, is there a way to put Movie Organizer on my LMDE3 taskbar and have it open the program on my Windows 10 Partition?

Obviously, if worse comes to worse, I'll end up buying Crossover for one program, but it would be nice to have WINE or some other program which could open Windows programs in LMDE3.

Wine should be in the LMDE3/Debian repos.

Does your Movieorganizer program have any facility for exporting (e.g. xml, csv/comma delimited or ??) or even printing (to text or pdf perhaps) your DVD indexes?

Regardless of the format it's able to spit out, it MIGHT be possible to reorganize that listing (using greb, sed, awk, quick custom bash file) into a form that permits import into any of the available Linux-flavored substitutes while retaining all your info. If you do have such output capabilities, add that into the criteria you use to select a Linux replacement.

Report back if there is such an export or print capability; someone here will likely be able to assist with conversion if that even needs to be done.

If so, it DOES have export facilities, and it is possible that you could (possibly) import it to Griffith, or GcStar, or one of the other Linux based collection managers. If you wish to carry on using Movie Organizer, then I would imagine that you will have to install Wine, wine-gecko, probably Microsoft Fonts, in order to display the records, and maybe a few library files in order to access the database. If you are unfamiliar with Wine, I would recommend installing PlayOnLinux, and attempting to install it through that.

I have had trials of Crossover before, and can't really see what advantage it has over Playonlinux. None of the obscure programs I ever tried to install on Wine worked better or installed easier with Crossover.

Short answer - NO. The registry entries would not be set up in Linux/Wine.

I missed this bit when I first read your message. If you still have this installation, then you should back up the crossover folders, as it may be possible to install crossover, then simply copy the folders over to get the program working. In standard Wine or Playonlinux installations, that is precisely how I get them working with minimal effort.
