Hi All,
Sorry I was not specific enough with the reasons for the " no joy" problems regarding my last post on DVD's in Linux ( was in a hurry
) I will be a little more specific.
First up ( before xine ) about Mplayer, I tried installing it from rpm..... first it would It just hang, then this ???
[root@localhost lub0]# rpm -i mplayer-0.91-2.i386.rpm
warning: only V3 signatures can be verified, skipping V4 signature
error: Failed dependencies:
mplayer-common = 0.91 is needed by mplayer-0.91-2
[root@localhost lub0]# rpm -i mplayer-common-0.91-2.i386.rpm
warning: only V3 signatures can be verified, skipping V4 signature
error: Failed dependencies:
mplayer = 0.91 is needed by mplayer-common-0.91-2
[root@localhost lub0]#
I know I am a noobie, but this feels like the circle thing ?. Next........
xine! ( I feel myself be strangely drawn back towards compiling through *.tgz... )
[root@localhost rpm]# rpm -i xine-0.9.20-fr1.i386.rpm
warning: xine-0.9.20-fr1.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID e42d547b
error: Failed dependencies:
xine-lib >= 1.0.0 is needed by xine-0.9.20-fr1
libaa.so.1 is needed by xine-0.9.20-fr1
libpthread.so.0(GLIBC_2.3.2) is needed by xine-0.9.20-fr1
libxine.so.1 is needed by xine-0.9.20-fr1
[root@localhost rpm]#??????????????????????
Does RH8 have deficiencies, or does rpm suck.
I had xine installed in my last install of both RH8 & MD9, I could not get it to work in either...
Sorry for this post being so long, maybe i should have broke into two....
Mega thanks in advance.....
