Hi, I've installed Fedora Core 2 on my machine. It seems that I cannot add a menu item to the start menu in either gnome or kde. In Gnome, I navigate to where I want to add the item, right click and go to click "add menu item" and it's grayed out for some reason. In KDE, I go to the dialog to configure KMenu and I properly add a new menu item just like I've done a million times before on all my other machines, and say ok, it says it's updating the configuration and when it's done, i go to see if it's there only to find it did not properly add the item. Has anyone seen this behavior before? Is it normal? I've installed RH9 a bunch of times and never had this problem. Is this something specific to FC2?

hey thanks, i'll give the suggestions mentioned in those threads a try.

but more importantly, how in the world did this glaring flaw make it into a release version? just another reason linux will never make it to the desktop. who the fuck wants to spend hours digging through message boards, and editing cryptic config files just to add a menu item?!?!?!?!!?!?
