Any 'Virtual CD burner' out there?

Hello, I suspect this question is relevant both to Linux and Windows.

I am looking for a 'virtual CD burner'.

For instance, take iTunes. It allows burning an audio CD directly from within the application. You'd just create a playlist and send it to a CD burner. There is no need to create an ISO file and then burn it separately (iTunes won't allow it, anyways).

So my question is, is there a software in Linux that emulates a CD burner, so that when I burn something from within an application, an iso is created?
Also, like iTunes, are there apps in Linux that allow burning stuff from within the application?

TIA.

PS: i tried both Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120, but they don't seem to fit what I need.

What sw do you use? Gnome has a built in cd/dvd burner where you can send the music to a file instead of a disk.

There is a program called Gnomebaker that I saw on another board that allows you to write to an ISO, but I dont' know anything about that one.

k3b is pretty much the "gold standard" of linux burning applications. It allows you to make an iso image rather than just burn it.
