rdp|ssh with virtualbox

Hi-

I am trying to use ssh with rdp on a windows host and virtualbox guest.

The linux guest I want to connect to has an address like:
10.0.0.101.

I used putty and put that address and indicated port 22 (default).
Under tunnel:

source port 3390
destination 10.0.0.1:3389.

that is the windows host machine that has the virtualbox remote display server.

doing this I can log in with these settings for putty on my linux guest.

so lastly is where I get stuck:

if I try localhost:3390 the remote desktop client just hangs.

in the tutorials and pages I looked at they can do it and I cant.

I am wondering is there a limitation in windows home that is blocking me?

I know there is some limited function between pro and home with rdp. I am not sure if that limitation is blocking this. It seems that when I connect without ssh it works okay but as soon as I try the localhost with port addresds I am stuck.

I just made up IP addresses. I hope the description is okay.

thx. -J. McNamara

Hi-

I thought it might be relevant that I am using the bridge adapter so my ips are similar. You probably figured that out though.

thx. -jim
