Problem Starting MySQL on Fresh Fedora 8 Install w/ Yum'd MySQL

Hello,

I was having a problem with MySQL start timing out, I did an strace and below is were it seems to freeze.

Code:

Not sure if anybody can help me but thanks if you can.

What do your mysql logs indicate when you try to start it? Probably speak to us in english but looking at this short stack trace, might be a permissions issue. You have the /var/lib/mysql owned by mysql user?

And there is no /usr/sbin/mysqld
