It's sad, but it seems that every time I try to configure a samba server I need help from LQ. Here's my smb.conf:
Code:
[global]
workgroup = WORKGROUP
server string = QUADMON Samba Server
security = user
kernel oplocks = false
log file = /var/log/samba.clients
max log size = 50
socket options = TCP_NODELAY
dns proxy = no
guest ok = no
writable = no
printable = yes
[QUADMARK]
comment = Marks Windows Folder
path = /home/mfoley/Desktop/mfoley
read only = no
public = yes
create mask = 0660
When I try to connect from a Windows 7 VM on the same subnet I get the message, "The network path \\192.168.0.17\quadmark could not be found."
I can connect to a different samba server (192.168.0.15) on the same subnet. In fact, I used 192.168.0.15's smb.conf as my starting point. I've entered credentials in smbpasswd. /usr/sbin/smbd and /usr/sbin/nmbd are running. There is nothing at all in the /var/log/samba/ log files. From the Windows cmd line I can ping 192.168.0.17
Running Slackware64 14.2, Samba 4.4.16
What am I doing wrong?
