Long Delay After Entering Username via SSH after PC lost network connection

I used my Windows laptop to connect to Oracle Linux servers via PUTTY. after I disconnected the laptop from the network (without exit putty sessions) for the weekend, there was ~10 seconds delay After entering Username to connect any linux server from my laptop. But my workmate has no issue with his laptop. I used RDC ( remote desktop connection) to connect to another windows server, and run putty from that PC to connect to the linux server, no delay at all. we used the same username to connect the linux. I just wonder if the linux server had any record for my laptop when I disconnect it from the network without exit putty session, so it delayed login process when I use my laptop to connect.

I don't think it's related to DNS lookup, IP address and etc.

Please help.

Thanks

David

Why do you think it's not related to the DNS lookup? Have you run wireshark?

if it happens only the first time you connect, it's fairly normal.
i'm experiencing the same thing; i think it's because of filesystem encryption on slow hardware, but it might have other reasons also.
