'chroot /mnt/sysimage' command in rescue mode

Hi ,

'chroot /mnt/sysimage' command in rescue mode ,Followed below mentioned procedure

1.Boot the system from the binary DVD or boot disc1 of the same major release as the system. Once the system has successfully booted from the ISO image and Red Hat Enterprise Linux boot screen will appear. Type: "linux rescue" without the quotes, and hit enter at the prompt.
[F1-Main] [F2-Options] [F3-General] [F4-Kernel] [F5-Rescue]

boot: linux rescue

2.When prompted for language, and keyboard, provide the pertinent information for the system.

3.When prompted to enable the network devices on the system, select: No

4.Select: Skip when prompted to allow the rescue environment to mount Red Hat Enterprise Linux installation under /mnt/sysimage directory.

chroot /mnt/sysimage fails with no such file or directory

df -h command gives /var /tmp filsystem details

fdisk -l fails to gives any output

What are you trying to accomplish?

If you skip mounting the root file system in step 4. the chroot command will fail.

Hi Michaelk,
I have entered skipped instead of continue on Step 4 while rescue the server Live CD .Whether there is any possible solution of mounting the filesystem manually and run fsck

Looks like I overlooked the no output with the fdisk command. Without knowing which partition is /(root) we will not get vary far. Lets start over and post some background information of the problem. What happens when the system tries to boot?
