When using ubuntu software updater, sometimes I am asked for password and other times I am not

Ubuntu 18.04, Cinnamon, Firefox.

Maybe a security issue or not.

When I use the Ubuntu software updater, sometimes I am prompted for a password to continue and other times I am not.
I dont thing it depends on the type of updates either, seems pretty sporadic.

Any reason why this is?

Thanks.

The most likely reason in my opinion: When you enter the password, the system remembers for a while, perhaps 15 minutes or so. If you perform a system administration command within that time, it won't ask you.

Ahh, yes that could be. I usually check for updates right after logging in. I wil do a test to confirm this.

Thanks.
