sendmail hangs, seemed to have lost external email and can't browse internet now!

I run redhat enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Kernal 2.6.9-42.ELsmp on an i686).

must have done something? its just that I am such a pathetic novice that I don't even know where to look??? Please help.

Sendmail, browing from netscape (via redhat gui screen).

I recently changed the hostname on my machine ( I changed it from "cubit" to "bullwork"). Then the problem goes... I probably changed a few things - you know, novice tinkering away...

It was working initially, but tonight I did a reboot and noticed sendmail hanging for a few extra minutes on reboot. Then I noticed a httpd error:

Jan 5 21:47:07 bullwork httpd: httpd: Could not determine the server's fully qu
alified domain name, using 192.168.3.15 for ServerName

Also noticed that I can't send and receive emails to the world anymore.

Also, logged in via the Xwindow and noticed that I can no longer browse the internet from there anymore.

Strangely though, I can still bring up the hosted website on that machine from a pc (so the machine is connected to the internet at least for incoming traffic???)

Here is my /etc/hosts:
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.3.15 bullwork

here is /etc/sysconfig/network:
NETWORKING=yes
HOSTNAME=bullwork

here is /etc/resolve.conf:
; generated by /sbin/dhclient-script
search lan
nameserver 192.168.3.1

What have I done? What can I try (before I pull all of my hair out!!) I'd appreciate the help very much, thanks

Greg. much?

sorry... Firefox is the browser.

just noticed though.. I can browse using the ip address of the sites:

eg: http://74.125.19.99 gets me to www.google.com.au, but www.google.com.au aint working.

not sure if this is related to my sendmail hanging problem... or connected to my not getting/sending external emails?

Greg.

That usually indicates your DNS is not working.
Have a look at (contents of)
/etc/resolv.conf
does it have the 2 DNS servers of your ISP listed?
