Again, I do NOT want someone to be able to go to "my-temp-space.com" and be able to trace that back to my new IP address and then somehow link that back to my web host and my VPS and then to my primary IP and then to my primary domain and then to my business and then to me and my home!!

To me, if I buy "my-temp-space.com" and register using privacy mode, and then buy a 2nd IP for my VPS, then that should be enough to separate things from my primary IP address which hosts my business website on the same VPS.
Can one install a "2nd cPanel"? I very much doubt it.
I offered the help that I could and ignored the rest.

Get a second IP and skip the domain.

Good Luck

You CAN install as many cPanel accounts on one VPS/server as storage allows.

That is a known fact.

How else would web hosts host multiple people's websites on a single box?

Hi there!

I wasted all yesterday trying to get SSH wrapped up on my second VPS.

Just created a new thread because my SFTP client refuses to work on VPS#2.

Proper SSH-related Premissions??

Was up until 4am trying to get it fixed.

So the WhoIs thing has taken a slight detour.

Let me do what you suggested above sometime today...

I tried...
Code:
whois <ip>
And got...
Code:
whois: command not found

Then I tried...
Code:
dig -x <ip>

I saw my "A" record and the related hostname for my IP.

Interesting, but not overly useful. I suppose those are good commands to know if you are trying to get info on another website?!

Was hoping that
Code:
whois <ip>
would yield something.

Last night I spent a fair amount of time looking at various Whois sources in my browser...

WHM manages that. "Accounts" aren't a "2nd cPanel".

Have a good day.

Code:
whois <ip>
will yield pretty much the same thing as the web page does.

Interesting that whois is apparently not installed on your VPS...

The rDNS is managed by the owner of the IP...that is, your web hosting company. It appears they've turned it on by default, and, again, it's necessary if you're planning to send email from a host (domain) on that IP address.

Please review man dig for information on options and usage.

Last night I was able to create a second cPanel account, map a 2nd IP to it and my new domain name which was registered using WhoIs Privacy. I was also able to hook up CloudFlare. Finally, I added an htaccess password to the web root.

So it looks like I now have a private and anonymous work area where I can temporarily drop work samples and have some people I know online provide some constructive feedback all while restricting access to these files and maintaining my privacy.
