Have you disabled hibernation and fast reboot in Windows? If you have not, as administrator in Windows boot do:

powercfg /h off
The option "defaults" in fstab might might not be hurting anything, but it's definitely not necessary. It's essentially a placeholder. Defaults are assumed, but fstab has to have something in the options column. Once you define any non-default option, "defaults" can and probably should be removed.

I removed 'defaults', rebooted, now all works. I wonder if I needed to reboot earlier.

No, I didn't disable hibernation and fast reboot in Windows. I could do that the next time I boot windows, which is hopefully far far in the future
