need to get a hd's info model # etc


hey, i need to know if theres a command that can tell me a harddrives' info, maker/model #. have no access locally to the box, so i need this info without rebooting.
thanks!

use the hdparm command
you have to be root, and if sbin is not in your path, then you'll have to type /sbin/hdparm
type :
man hdparm
to find the different arguments that you can pass...
doing :
hdparm -iI /dev/hda
will give you a very detailed look at your drive....
replace /dev/hda if needed with the correct device.
