Hi all,
can any one help coz this is doing my head in!! I trying to setup a dual boot with WinXP Pro, I've installed mandrake on its own on this system and it worked fine. But when tried to setup a dual boot with windows it just won't work.

I've used the recovery console on the mandrake CD to try and restore the boot loader but when I restart its gone again or it will start to load the boot loader and freeze, with lilo and display loads of 99 across the screen and with GRUB it just stops altogether.

I've also tried saving GRUB and LILIO to floppy disk with no joy.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

RAID 240GB SATA HDD (made from X2 samsung Spinpoints)

dunno about the SATA RAID, but I had problems with IDE RAID. I ended up switching my hd's from the raid conroller to the standard ide controller and didn't have any more problems. The strange thing is, my install went great but I'd freeze during boot before I switched the drives. Perhaps this is a similar issue.

I have a configuration similar your (two maxtor sata 160Gb in raid 0), and the same problems. I've tried GAG but when I want load Linux it says me that there is no loader in the partition. Now, and I don't see the ending, I boot linux from floppy.
