I've tried a lot of distro's and it seems my cd drive is faulty, because of this, most live cd's complain with "I/O error on sr0 or hdc" and go weird or drop me into a shell, so i need a way to install fedora FULLY ONTO A PARTITION from windows, and It can't use the network to install, my card requires some work to get it to work under fedora, and the only tutorial i found required me to install via network
I don't really have much money to replace the faulty drive right now, and for Unetbootin I only have a 64mb slightly messed up flash drive that doesn't contain my stuff to use
i get you cd-drive "faulty", can you post here any cd related error message to the effect? you have not posted us what is your hardware specification. well, if i assume that it is not really recent, what about trying to run or install an older distro version? just a try.
With knoppix, it gives errors saying it can't find the knoppix file system and drops me into a shell, GPARTED gives me errors about hdc sectors, and fedora and ubuntu give "buffer I/O error on device sr0 logical block xxx"
My computer specs:
512mb ram
20gb hdrive with 4gb free
MSI CD Drive 52x max
AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 1.47ghz but damaged so AMD Duron 800mhz

I was going to use debian, but debian failed with the cd, it booted, but when it came to the partitioning, it complained saying there wasn't enough space >.>
the_trooper, well I tried to get gparted working, It told me to run chkdsk /f, I did, now gparted fails with the hdc sector errors due to the retarded cd drive
Did you look at the link i posted?.
I haven't tried it myself but i believe that the Windows Debian installer will take care of resizing the Windows partition for you.
If you click on the How does it work? link it shows you how to install from Windows.
I think the installer sets up a dual-boot system.
Have a look to be sure.
linus72, It requires me to burn it to a disc to use the windows installer, I've wasted enough disc's, and I am not going to installing daemon tools or alcohol 52% on it...
