Forced to download LibreOffice, don't like it at all
Today, upon downloading updates, Ubuntu uninstalled OOo and installed LibreOffice. What a piece of ----! The first thing which showed up: bold, underline, etc don't highlight when selected; next- Open As, Save As don't show USB stick. I've messed with Linux enough--went downtown and purchased Windows 7--had enough of amateurville patting itself on the back and forcing non-refined software on me!! Bye
OMG! Did people in masks broke into your house and forced you to install ubuntu? These people usually install Arch.
Or...they buy a mask and willingly install Arch
@ OP
Hey, chill, OpenOffice is taken "out of the loop" by the new "uber owner" thereof (as far as I read/heared), the good folks that made it, now re-build this into LibreOffice. It needs time to grow. Have you ever seen OpenOffice 1.1? I have, the differences between the OpenOffice NOW and THEN...well
My two cents...
Thor
Edit : just installed LO - works nicely, and the icons are pretty much okay...
My "worry" lies in the re-installing of all the themes/slide layouts I had in OO - well, guess it's a date with miss Google, again...

Then we can assume Cecil wants the real McCoy and not a Libe clone.
I thought the song went "my bonny lies over the ocean, may bonnie lies over the sea" how is that happy or fun?
From some web site.
"In a message to the ubuntu-devel mailing list, Matthias Klose, wrote that they are replacing OpenOffice with LibreOffice for Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha 2, which is scheduled for release on 3rd February. However, unlike what many has been saying, this does not mean that Ubuntu 11.04 has dropped OpenOffice in favor of LibreOffice.
The final decision on whether to go with OpenOffice or LibreOffice has not been taken yet. LibreOffice has been included in Alpha 2 merely to give it a run to see if it is ready for inclusion in the final release of Ubuntu 11.04.
For the record, LibreOffice is a fork of OpenOffice being developed by former OpenOffice developers after Oracle asked them to leave following their creation of The Document Foundation."
So that is what you get with Alpha software and you find it is not the real McCoy indeed.
