Question ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysq


I've installed mysql-server on linux mint 15 kde . I run 'mysql -u root -p' and after the password is entered, i get the error:

ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysq

Make sure the mysql service whether it is running or not
