The only problem with typing 'clear screen' rather than 'clear' is the extra wear and tear on your fingers. You can type 'clear the bloody screen you moron' if you like - clear ignores any command-line parameters that may be present.

You know, coming to think of it, I am not sure why that first line does not go away, like I said it may be some bug somewhere.

Try changing the size of the terminal eindow and see what happens.

If you are willing to loose everything, you can use the reset command. It will remove everything that terminal has on output.
