Can't print due to "bad hostname"

I used Red Hat's printconf utility to set up a printer, but it gave a totally unhelpful error message when I tried a test page. Typing lp at the console just says "Get_local_host: hostname 'shinryuu.localdomain' bad" no matter what options are used.
The same message has appeared at startup since setting up the printer, and at shutdown lpd cannot be killed.

How did this get in "newbie"? I could have sworn I posted in "general".

When you run the 'hostname' command what does it return? If it returns the correct hostname of your machine then make sure that its lists in /etc/hosts
