It's possible LL put the flash plugin someplace other than its usual location. Executing

Code:

find  / -name libflashplayer.so 2>/dev/null

will show the location of every instance of libflashplayer.so

Agreed. But

Code:

locate libflashplayer.so

might be a little easier for the OP and it also shows all the instances. It also runs a lot quicker, at least on my system.

I agree, but that assumes the location database has been updated. I don't recall if LL installs the mlocate rpm by default.

My terminal is just a one-line window. It doesn't have any way to return anything, as far as I can tell.

Very odd. That description fits a run dialog, not a terminal. Try entering

Code:

gnome-terminal

in that window - it should open up a real terminal

Aha! It worked, as you said.
But I can't enter anything in the now large window. I type or paste and nothing happens. There's a solid block the size of one character in the top left point of the window. It doesn't move.

Click just to the right of the flashing block to select the window, then type either the locate or the find command above and hit the Enter key

The block isn't flashing and clicking to its right doesn't do anything and typing doesn't show up.

Not sure if the problem is with my instructions (certainly possible) or your system (given that you're still running LL, that's a real possibility too). Anyway, thought you might want to check out this link
