can't get rid of "q" character popping up

I am have two machines sharing a keyboard & mouse. The Switch I am using allows me to switch back and forth using Scroll Lock, Scroll Lock then up arrow, but after doing that my Linux machines seems to insert a "q" in whatever screen I am in after typing a backspace. It is not a one for one thing. IF I press backspace multiple times then stop one "q" shows up in the window. I tried mapping ^H and ^? to erase with stty in my .bashrc, but I think it has something to do with the swtich over back and forth.

help...this is so annoqying.. I mean annoying
