Unstable wi-fi connection on Ubuntu 18.04.1

Hey there,

I've been having problems with my wireless internet on Ubuntu 18.04.1. While internet works fine using a cable connection, I know it's not a router problem, since Windows 10 and my phone work fine while connected.
Thought this Steam screenshot could show it better:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yfd...ew?usp=sharing

Here's what happens when I ping 8.8.4.4:
64 bytes from 8.8.4.4: icmp_seq=1 ttl=119 time=28.2 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.4.4: icmp_seq=2 ttl=119 time=663 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.4.4: icmp_seq=4 ttl=119 time=18.3 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.4.4: icmp_seq=5 ttl=119 time=11.9 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.4.4: icmp_seq=6 ttl=119 time=51.1 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.4.4: icmp_seq=7 ttl=119 time=756 ms
64 bytes from 8.8.4.4: icmp_seq=8 ttl=119 time=688 ms

--- 8.8.4.4 ping statistics ---
8 packets transmitted, 7 received, 12% packet loss, time 7030ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 11.918/316.822/756.074/335.343 ms

Here's Google:
64 bytes from eze03s06-in-f14.1e100.net (172.217.29.14): icmp_seq=1 ttl=53 time=477 ms

64 bytes from eze03s06-in-f14.1e100.net (172.217.29.14): icmp_seq=5 ttl=53 time=20.7 ms
64 bytes from eze03s06-in-f14.1e100.net (172.217.29.14): icmp_seq=6 ttl=53 time=12.1 ms
64 bytes from eze03s06-in-f14.1e100.net (172.217.29.14): icmp_seq=7 ttl=53 time=487 ms

--- google.com ping statistics ---
8 packets transmitted, 7 received, 12% packet loss, time 7007ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 12.137/157.991/487.124/206.089 ms

I've seen different results, going from no loss at all to half or so. I'm kind of a Linux newbie, so I have no idea about what could be happening.

Thanks in advance!

How are you terminating the ping? With Ctrl-C? Maybe you're stopping it after the 8th is sent and before it's received back.

Try
Code:
ping -c8 <someip>
to have ping stop by itself after 8 times

It depends on the wireless card of your PC, as long as you have Intel wireless card you would face no issues.

If your PC is from Dell and has Qualcomm Atheros card then you can run Ubuntu without any issues because Dell develops drivers for Ubuntu under their program called Project Sputnik.

However if your PC uses Broadcom wireless card you’re pretty much screwed, the driver support for Broadcom is downright pathetic and even if you install the special proprietary driver from Ubuntu repository it won't solve any issues.

Code:
Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)
Mine's a Qualcomm Atheros, however I'm on a Samsung PC. Could it be a driver related issue?
