Question Dual nic one internal one external

I am trying to see if it is possible to set up a dual nic machine, where the first is an external wifi link to another internet connection, and the second is the internal link. I want to use the backup link to send backup data whilst the internal nick has its own internet. so all traffic goes out the backup link to the internet and the internal one can access local shared on the network.
I simply tried setting up the first link to the internet, then setting up the second with its gateway as the first but that didnt work, just got dead end requests.

Im guessing that there is some iptable foo to be done but i cant get the phrase right to google it.

enp00s3 is the internal nic 192.168.0.0 set
wlanxxxx is the external backup link on 192.168.1.1 set

want internal shares available via enp and it to default sending traffic to the net through wlan.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using linux lubuntu for this task, as its only a project happy to try any distro that would work.

192.168.0.0 is not an IP address.

How did you set them up? It would help to see the output of the commands ip address and ip route.

What exactly doesn’t work? Is there an error message?

Look at your routing table route -n and ensure that your gateway or default route is set to the interface where you want your internet traffic to go.

IPTABLES is not the one that sets your routing table.
