Can't connect to the Internet with DHCP

I've got myself a new box adsl router etc all in one piece of kit --saves exta boxes and wires.

When I connect a Windoze machine to it I just let the DHCP connect to my ISP --I don't need to make any settings and it works fine.

Suse 9.1 I try the same thing and nothing happens --Time out on server connection was made to URL ADDR at Port 80.

If I configure the Nic manually i.e assign a static IP address, use the DSN numbers of my ISP and use the default gateway as 192.168.1.1 (The router) it works fine --but I really don't want to have to configure these boxes manually.

Any help --- note that the ADSL router is the DHCP server so I only want my network card to connect to it as a client.

Thanks

When you get a DHCP lease to your SUSE Linux box, show us the output from your [b]ifconfig/b] and route -n commands.

Please, can you explain exactly how you solved the problem?
I have a D-Link DI-604 Router and have similar problems. To get internet working I have to enter every time the string below and to set manually DNS of my ISP (DNS through DHCP doesn't work):

route add default netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.0.1

How can I fix this? Where can I put this string to make it default every time I restart the system?

Thanks in advance...
