Unhappy Free File Sync Issue

I can find no alternative for linux though I have used Grsync. I need to be able to compare and see results folder by folder.

I have installed FFS via terminal so I should have the latest version. Trying to sync files from home drive to USB but at times FFS cannot see my folder on the home drive while obviously it is there, Other times though I can see the files in both directories FFS fails to see them and reports the rt / lt hand folder empty. I have been fighting this for days and I am stumped can anyone advice.
Before I updated I has no issues. I am now using the version from Package manager but the same issue returns

Many Thanks
Tirnanog

grsync works for me. It is quick and easy, once you get it configured.
I wrote a tutorial for it.

+1 Grsync.

Also Tirnanog - maybe try luckyBackup.

If you're considering GUI applications, I find FreeFileSync very useful.

For me, the solution is rsync

the syntax for rsync is similar to cp, for exmaple:
rsync /path/to/src/ /path/to/destination/
There are lots of useful arguements you can pass, such as: -ravz --delete --log-file=
You can use rsync to make incremental backups very easily using the backup-dir= argument and then adding a cron job.
Have a look at man rsync

to examine the results of rsync, the log file is helpful.
For comparing files and sizes, I use the utility diff and/or du for quick info

I can share one of my incremental backup scripts if you are interested in seeing rsync in action
