Yes, my son tells me I should but I can hardly afford to upgrade my computer. But would replacing the graphics card solve the problem? Maybe I should do that.

It probably would solve the driver problem, yes, but you would need to get a graphics card that is supported by your motherboard, so you should get some advice from someone who knows about these things. Is your son knowledgeable about such matters?

No I don't think so. I was just looking at the instructions on wikihow.com. Looks kind of complicated though could be done. Maybe I should just try Anti-X. I had downloaded Mint 18.3 last night. I am running a trial on that now. So far so good. But probably will soon give me problems. I was trying this till I get the Anti-X. If Anti-X works I will be fine. I don't need anything special. Just so I can do my work.

As I said I had already downloaded Mint 18.3 before we started talking the age of my computer. So I went ahead and am trying it. So far it is working fine. Do you think I will have trouble?
I went into the Driver Manager and it showed the nvidia-304 so I chose it and it has been working fine so far. Do you think I am okay? I started downloading AntiX. Not finished yet.

Mint 18.3 should be fine, and is supported until April 2021. Note though that by that date you will have to figure out another solution, unless someone has by then found a way to support your graphics card in later versions of Mint.

Do have a look at antiX though for comparison purposes with Mint.

Thank you, I will try AntiX. I would hope by 2021 I might be able to upgrade my computer but if I like AntiX as well as this I could just stay with that.
Another question, when I do updates should I accept them all or since I am a novice should I not accept the 3s and the 4s?

I would install TimeShift and get that working (make sure you have enough space for the snapshots - ask if you don't understand this). Then you can choose whichever updates you want (i.e. them all) since you can roll back if an update goes awry (it's rare but it does happen).

Yes, I have 474 GBs available. Okay, I see. Thank you. I already have it set up to do one daily.
I haven't finished downloading AntiX since my son is working online and it takes too much of the Internet for his work. But I do plan to get it and try it.

Wow, AntiX is quite different. I will have to keep trying it and learning how it operates.
Is there a setting that is more like the Mint Menu? I have become so accustomed to Mint's setup.
I will keep playing with it. Or is it quite different once I install it?

Thank you, thank you, to all who helped me. I am working on Mint 18.3 and it is working fine. I have Anti-X on my memory stick so in case I begin having trouble I can switch to that. I have learned so much thanks to you all. I am sorry my case was so difficult but I made new friends and learned a lot. God bless all of you.
