Touchpad not working on CentOS 7

Hi All,

Please, I would like you all to officially welcome and congratulate me for having my own laptop.

So, I bought an Acer Aspire which has Windows 10 install by default, for Linux-learning purposes (or at least that's the plan). Initially, I was thinking of dual booting it with Linux, but I thought I might need to have only Linux to force me to learn it as planned, so I did suicide wipe the drive and install Centos 7 Minimal.

Installation worked perfectly fine, I was able to update and then groupinstall "Desktop Environment".

So the first thing I noticed (and tried to fix) is the touchpad which does not work at all. I did some research but I never really arrived at something useful.

I already checked Acer's website and found the drivers page, but as I was expecting, they only provide Windows drivers. Damn acer.

So, I don't want to give up and go back to my Windows desktop and just learn Linux on a VM. I would really like to make this work

To start with, any diagnostic command you can suggest me?

Thank you.

Just to add, I tried using the Live CD before installing Minimal and the touchpad didn't really work, if that matters.

Touch pads connect to the systems in only a few ways but may have some unique things in each laptop.

To start with let us peek at this page for some diag clues. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection See the not working part. Post the results. Not all may work since this is not centos.

It may be possible to use a few live cd/dvd/usb's also of different distro's to see ones that work and compare. You must realize that Centos isn't really a great choice for a laptop by design.

I will be checking on it when I get home. Thanks.

Just as I thought I would really like to learn RPM-based distributions that's why I chose CentOS. But if I were to move one, should I just go with Linux Mint/Slackware/Ubuntu?
