Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Single Drive RAID Issue

Trying to install Centos 7 on Dell R610 with single 512GB Crucial SSD drive. I disabled RAID via 3ware controller (no o/s, no bios option). I tried with RAID 0, naturally kept failing to activate RAID with single drive.

How do I bypass this?

As you seem aware, a raid 0 or raid 1 array cannot be defined with a single device.
The controller needs to have raid totally disabled if the device is attached to a raid controller. It would seem to me that using the raid controller would imply you intended to use 2 or more physical devices attached to that controller.

ISTR that it is possible on many raid controllers to use devices attached in JBOD mode, which would disable the raid functions for those devices.
