PCMCIA NIC doesn't work any more

I've been fiddling around with compiling kernels under Slack 8.1 for the past few weeks (among other things aswell), but the thing is I can't seem to get the PCMCIA network card to work under any of the kernels that I have compiled, but could get it to work under the bare.i kernel image off the Slackware CD.

I've compiled the several kernel images (and deleted a few in the process) now, but now I only seem to have the drivers/modules for last kernel image that I compiled under the /lib/modules/ directory.

BTW: I pretty sure that had the correct drivers selected under make menuconfig for the NIC to work. Also I do still have the original kernel (bare.i) on the hard drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Slackware 8.1 uses pcmcia-cs still. All of the modules you are creating in the kernel are getting ignored as /etc/rc.d/rc.pcmcia is still loading pcmcia_core from the cs package and the modules within that. You could probably hack Slackware forward and get it to load yanta_socket (the in-kernel pcmcia manager), but I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to get cardmgr to bind the modules to yenta instead of pcmcia_core. It might just be a matter of rmmod'ding one and modprobing the other.

Luck,
