LIRC: Buttons don't stay pressed... (lircm)

Now that I've finally managed to get LIRC working, I got another problem. If I press a button on the RC and hold it, it's just as if I would press the button and release it directly. Is this likely to be problem of the RC or of the infrared receiver?
I can't use lircmd because of that as I have to press the direction buttons about a thousand times to get somewhere...

RC: Aiwa RC-ZAS02
Receiver: zapway.de serial port receiver

Thanks in advance..

Well, I've tried some other RC's, and they work properly... so it seems as if the Aiwa RC is the problem.
