Keyboard and it's shortcut keys

I just bought a keyboard that doesn't specifically come with Linux drivers (BenQ x700), and it has a bunch of keys that don't seem to work right away. I went into the keyboard shortcuts preferences, and I found that I can map some of them (about half), and I was wondering if there was a way to map the other half and to add functionility to them in GNOME with or without a driver for it.

This doesn't exactly help you, but this can be done easily in KDE with KHotKeys

Actually, KDE seems to have less support for my keyboard´s extra keys. Since I can´t find the layout for this keyboard in either desktop environment´s layout manager, I´m missing compatibility with about half of these extra keys in GNOME and about 75% in KDE. KHotKeys would´ve worked for making my own shortcuts, though, so you´re right about that.

Well I am no expert. But I just thought I mentioned it since I got a 'multimedia' keyboard to work very easily in KDE. I didn't even know it was possible till I thought "why not".

and look for "key codes", "keycodes", keyboard + codes either way, and such-like further if you still need to...
