I'm mad and I ain't going to take it anymore

I installed Xandors and installation went flawlessly. I decided to go with the pci soundcard and even that went good. Bells, sounds, whistle and all that. I then played some of my mp3's and all of them sounded like poop. I even downloaded a xmms plugin called EQU and the sound did not improve. It sounded awful. So my next move was to turn to the onboard sound and I could not get the onboard sound to work. I downloaded the latest ALSA, but the thing with that was I could not compile the source code to get the onboard sound to work because I'm like a caveman tryin to understand physics. Not sure that if I did somehow get the onboard to work that the mp3's would sound the way they were intended to sound. The chipset is supproted by ALSA, but like I said before, the compile thing is kinda hard to do. Can someone throw me a bone of sorts or point out a way to get the damn thing to work?

You will probably need to go into your mixer and just turn down the PCM level. This is a common thing you will notice. Just a thought. Hope it helps you !
