DVD-RW drive can't write a multisession dvd??

I tried to write a multisession dvd and k3b told me:

" Your writer (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4160B) does not support Incremental Streaming with DVD-R media. Multisession will not be possible. Continue anyway?"

I found it suspicious, but never tried it with a dvd-r media, only with dvd-rw. So, can someone kindly tell me whether this is really a hw limitation or just a lack of programs?

The above writer brand is LG.

Thanks!

I have not had much luck with multi session dvds at all. Under windows as well. From what I gather, it isnt usually recommended.
