Hey all,
I'm running openSUSE 10.1 with a ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 (x600) on a Gateway 7510GX Laptop. I've downloaded and installed the ATI Drivers from their site, which says gives full access to TV Out, as well as Dual Desktop (Dual Head?) functionality.
I'm pretty sure the drivers are installed fine, when I fun fglrxinfo I get:
Code:
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL rendered string: MOBILITY RADEON X600 Generic
OpenGL version string: 2.0.5946 (8.27.10)
Where I'm at:
Connecting an external CRT produces a scrollable clone of the LCD (which runs at 1280*800).
I've gone into ATI Control Panel and Selected "Big Desktop Horizonal". It tells me to restart X-Server. I Ctrl-Alt-Backspace and log back in, but it's still in Clone Mode.
I also tried configuring it in SaX2 using "Dual Head Mode" (which I'm not exactly sure what that is, is it the same as 'Dual Desktop' in Windows?). Anyway, I set Dual Head Mode to Xinerama Multihead but that just destroys my screen, and I have to restart to get it back.
So, Recap:
My CRT only works in Clone Mode
My TV-Out doesn't work at all nor are there any options anywhere to configure it.
I would like to be able to do Dual Desktop with the CRT and TV Out, as in have my main desktop on the LCD, with a seperate desktop on the external display where I can move windows back and forth, etc.
I appreciate any advice, thanks!
PS: I know a lot people offer their "X.Org Configuration" for display help, but I'm not sure what that is or where to get it, so if you want it let me know where to find it, thanks!
