View Poll Results: What Was Your First Linux Distro?
My first linux Distro is Debian. I was thinking that it is the oldest and most famous distro. I have hybrid video card on my laptop and video drivers installation was hard job for me. But now i enjoy linux and use mostly command line. Debian is fantastic distro!
The first I really worked with was SuSE 7.3 but the first LLinux exposure I got on SuSE 6.4 and then KDE2 was just relesed - yep it's been a while lol...

First full distro i used regularly was Suse Enterprise, but the one that captured me as a devotee for use on my main system was Mandriva. No distro has been better for me as a desktop system than mandriva. Ubuntu and the many others have nothing on it. RIP Mandriva.
The problem with this survey is the fact that there is no date first used. Stating the year first used IMHO would be more informative.
As an example, I first used Fedora in 1998 and actually used it for my work as a Unix consultant, also I had no trouble interacting with people who were using MS Windows such as documents, mail, etc.
Your first distro can mean trying a live CD or actually installing the distro to disk. A distinction should be made. For example, I first tried KNOPPIX in early-2007 but didn't install a distro (Ubuntu 7.10) until early-2008.

Slackware circa mid 1990s
Patrick Volkerding's Slackware from the mid-1990s distributed on 5 CDs by Walnut Creek. IIRC the actual distribution was over the first 3 CDs which included the Linux source files and the last two was a collection of contributed software and Usenet and BB forum postings packed with useful information. The CD label even had a signed personal message from Patrick!
Distribution: Slackware64-current with "True Multilib" and KDE4Town.
