I can't duplicate it by starting a specific application however for instance it may happen if I start Libre Office writer and then again it may not likewise if I start XFE it may or may not be output. This just started the same day I upgraded from Ubuntu 16.04.5LTS to 18.04.1LTS

Output of /home/chris/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log if it makes any difference

My monitor is an Acer P221W connected with a new VGA cable. The BIOS version on the computer is A15 which is the latest for this model. From the tech guide for the computer says this about the graphics card.
Code:
INTEGRATED INTEL GMA 4500
GPU core clock
Gen5 core @ 667 350 MHz Integrated and with
350MHz 24 bit RAMDAC

The chipset is Intel Q45 Express Chipset w/ICH10DO
The following are installed:
Code:
xorg/bionic-updates,now 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 amd64 [installed]
xserver-xorg/bionic-updates,now 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-core/bionic-updates,bionic-security,now 2:1.19.6-1ubuntu4.2 amd64 [installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-input-all/bionic-updates,now 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-input-evdev/bionic,now 1:2.10.5-1ubuntu1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-input-libinput/bionic,now 0.27.1-1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-video-all/bionic-updates,now 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 amd64 [installed]
xserver-xorg-video-intel/bionic,now 2:2.99.917+git20171229-1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
xserver-xorg-video-vesa/bionic,now 1:2.3.4-1build3 amd64 [installed,automatic
There's probably more I should add but I'm not sure what it is. I posted this originally on the Ubuntu forum.

suppress error messages?
why?
also that's not even an error, just (II).
wouldn't you rather want to solve the underlying problem?
i would look into reducing gdm-x-session's verbosity.

I think I used the wrong term, suppress, what I should have said was something along the line of "what is causing this output to my syslog". I should edit the thread title. True, (II) is information and not an error. I'll take a look at

Code:
i would look into reducing gdm-x-session's verbosity.
and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the suggestion.
