is it posible to make sure new files created in a folder gets a specific set of permissions?

I have created a NFS share for my downloads to use with transmission daeomon.

I have managed to make the files transmission creates when downloading to be created with the correct group owner, but it creates the files with 755 rights, while I want everything created in that dir to be 770.

I use "chmod -R 770 /path/" to fix the rights every time I need access to the new files downloaded, but is there a way to force all new files created in my downloads dir to be created with 770 rights?

Either configure the software to chmod or use umask.

Thanks for the tip

Turned out to be a very easy fix with a umask setting in the transmission config file.
