Couldn't open mixer device /dev/sound/mixer

i've redhat9 with gnome and the kernel 2.4. I've newly installed oss and the installation worked fine. the test after the installation worked perfekt. but now everytime, when I start my computer, he says:
Quote:
Couldn't open mixer device /dev/sound/mixer
and when I run volume control, he says
Quote:
Unable to open audio device '/dev/mixer'
Now I can't hear anything, because the volume is set to low

no folder /dev/sound

I have checked the permissions of /dev/mixer
Quote:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 May 14 23:07 mixer -> /dev/mixer0
crw------- 1 laurent root 14, 0 May 14 23:27 mixer0
this must be right, or not?

But I don't have a /dev/sound folder, and so I don't have the device /dev/sound/mixer.

I've now created /dev/sound/mixer and changed the permissions like muddlnx said but when I restart then my computer he rechanges the owner to laurent and the permissions to crw and I receive the same errors.
how can I disable that the system changes this?

Maybe the installer had messed up on the initial install. Maybe modules install, etc.
