I recommend F117a Nighthawk Stealth Fighter (I've played F-19). It is old but its really good.

Linux Air Combat official release V7.92 now available

Since the prior posting on this subject, Linux Air Combat ("LAC") has progressed to version 7.92, supporting 54 aircraft. The focus is still on World War II, and all of the most important combat aircraft of that conflict are now modeled. Development is now stable and version 7.92 is the first "official" distribution. From the standpoint of its technical features, this is now the world's leading open-source combat flight simulator for LINUX, but its user community is still small. A "Google" or "YouTube" search will yield a lot of links.

Here is official page

YouTube channel

Downloads (source and binary) available on its SourceForge page

https://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxaircombat

Also there is unofficial repo on GitHub with SDL2 patches for compiling under macOS

https://github.com/atalkingegg/LAC

Here is a YouTube clip illustrating recent online activity:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-xi...4AJ9b&index=22

That 10-minute clip shows what it's like to fly in a big online battle with lots of audio banter between players. The clip was recorded on a Manjaro LINUX machine, and the other player that is heard on the voice radio was using a Ubuntu system. Both players reported that they were able to use the distributed binary executable from SourceForge without compiling anything.

Linux Air Combat now updated to Production V8.44

Linux Air Combat is now available in the Arch User Repository (AUR) and in several other semi-official repositories for various LINUX distros. This is discussed here:

https://sourceforge.net/p/linuxairco...nrepositories/

The software is now stable and sufficiently optimized to run nicely on any popular desktop linux distro (including Raspberry Pi). Flight controls can be based on mouse, joystick, or USB console game controller. Multi-player missions are now available on free servers. Here are the best links for more info:

Linux Air Combat updated to V8.51 and available as AppImage

Update: As of this writing in November of 2021, Linux Air Combat ("LAC") development has stabilized to "Production" quality. It's easy to compile from source code, it's already available in several official and semi-official repositories, and an "AppImage" version is available for those that don't want to compile it.

LAC's new AppImage is a precompiled, executable binary program that launches Linux Air Combat Version 8.51 from a self-contained, self-extracting, multi-file archive containing all prerequisites. It is configured according to the well-known "AppImage" conventions for (almost) universal compatibility among many popular LINUX distros using industry-standard "x86" architecture. Accordingly, if you just want to run LAC without compiling it, this is probably your best, simplest option. Just download it, mark it as "executable" according to well-known LINUX norms, and then execute it. If your hardware is based on x86 architecture and if your LINUX distro is "mainstream" and has been updated since about December of 2020, it will start right up!

It's available here:
