I need a kernel module.

I bought a new Ryzen cpu with a ASRock X370 Taichi mainboard. I compile my
own custom kernels but I can't seem to get the usb keyboard and mouse to
work. I look at what Ubuntu does. That .config has some modules that I
haven't identified yet. But one seems be what I need. It's usbkbd.ko.
Located at Device Drivers -> HID Support -> USB HID Support -> USB HID
Boot Protocol Drivers. But when I try to select it, the option isn't
there. That means the 'Boot Protocol Drivers' submenu is gone. There must
be some dependency for this module that I am missing.

make mrproper
make defconfig
and then going to
...->Boot Protocol Drivers isn't possible.
