Hello, I'm Albert and I'm having some serious problems while I'm compiling the GCC-5.3.0 package. Today I started the process of compiling (by using "make" command) at 6 p.m., after doing every single step that the book indicates. However, it's 10:15 p.m. and it hasn't finished yet. I'm doing my Linux Distribution on a separate computer, which is older than the one I'm using now.
Initially, I thought that it was going slowly because of my other computer's age. However, at one single moment I realised that there was a "warning alert", which says literally:
"Warning: format not a string literal and no format arguments [-Wformat-security] error (message);"
I have browsed the net for an answer an I found that Ubuntu, the kernel I'm using, has got a "compiler flag" that causes that error. I don't know how to solve it, because I have been working in that project for my last-course project of baccalaureate. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 (last version) as the kernel in a virtual machine (Oracle VM Virtual machine, version 5.0.2) and the book is Linux From Scratch version 7.9.
Warnings are generally not critical. As you can see, the build process is still going on. If you read about SBU's, you could've calculated how long GCC is going to take. And since it's going on in VM, it will be even longer before the package is built.
