Bugs in 8.0rc1 & BLFS Dev

I've tried to send bug reports. I've sent plain text and manually wrapped @ 70 columns. Still I never see them show up. So, I'll post em here in case the developers wander through. (I know one does occasionally.)

LFS 8.0rc1 Systemd

6.65 Util-Linux

Configure option "--enable-libmount-force-mountinfo" is unrecognized. I did a ./configure --help | more and didn't see anything that looked like it. So, I'm not sure what that was supposed to do.

6.66 Man-DB

The file <tarball-dir>/init/systemd/man-db.conf had a line change between version 2.7.6.0 and 2.7.6.1. "0755 man root 1w" became "man man 1w" so the sed at the bottom of the instructions needs to be changed to:

Code:
sed -i "s:man man:root root:g" /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/man-db.conf
Note: This one causes first boot to explode with errors because it holds up the creation of tmpfiles.d.

BLFS Development Systemd: @Sysstat-11.5.4

The command "systemctl enable sysstat.service" at the end of the instructions will fail citing missing unit files when using a standard cron to schedule sysstat jobs. Since the book isn't using Systemd's internal cron, the *.timer files don't get copied over and they're referenced in sysstat.service file. The book needs a sed statement after the unit is installed, but before it's enabled.

Code:
sed -i "/^Also=/d" /lib/systemd/system/sysstat.service
Other than those, I've not seen any issues with 8.0rc1.

I can confirm the man-db bug. The one in util-linux doesn't occur in the sysvinit version. I've passed your observations on to the mailing list so that they can update the book.

TY!

Yea some of the stuff in the book hasn't been updated in a long time. I suspect that's the case with the util-linux bug. I know for a fact that most of what it tells you to echo into the iptables configuration in BLFS have been part of the default settings for at least a decade.

BLFS could also stand to lose a reference some of the packages have to an optional "libedit". In every case I've seen that package, it is mutually exclusive with gnu readline. I guess you could say it's the BSD version of readline.
