LPRng: Fatal error - Cannot bind to lpd port '515'

Hi folks,

I have a problem with my LPRng 3.8.35 with activating IPv6. Each time I start the daemon it throws the error:
Fatal error - Cannot bind to lpd port '515'

My OS: SLES11 SP2 (Linux Kernel 3.0.31-0.9-default)

Starting the daemon without IPv6 works fine. But after activation of ipv6 option in lpd.conf the error appears.

I checked whether there is another LPD running (lpd, cups) and nothing appears. In addition the port 515 is not used by any application.

# netstat -antup | grep -i 515
#
# ps -eaf | grep -iE 'lpd|cups'
#
# lsof -i TCP:515
#

no findings.

I'm quite stuck and I have no idea what to check...

Does anbody have an idea?

kind regards
Pete

Show your config - is it possible the IPv6 address the program tries to bin to is not one the host has?

Hey thanks for the reply, but the LPRng daemon binds to "all" for IPv4:
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:515 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1356/lpd Waiting

So I would expect something similar for IPv6, here an example of what I would expect:
tcp 0 0 :::80 :::* LISTEN 7697/httpd

But as mentioned when activating the ipv6 option in lpd.conf, I receive:
Fatal error - Cannot bind to lpd port '515'
