Hello,
Exploring Linux from Windows. Just loaded Linux LXLE (cannot find a forum for this distro and searched for the subject error message).
Install of LXLE 18.04.03 32-bit went without a hitch (loaded the ISO to a flashdrive using YUMI. Needed to use PLOP! from Hirens Boot to have USB recognized. The Centrino / Pentium-M required the command FORCEPAE before loading.
Wanted to load a ZIPPED icons and themes package. Downloaded it to /Downloads subdirectory.
Tried to extract and install the icons to .icons directory, using the instructions found here.
Error message:
Quote:
LXLE Can't perform extraction! You don't have the right permissions to extract the files to the directory

ADDENDUM:
I want to keep this distro as light as possible. I have read many help pages which suggest loading CINNAMON or other applications.
My understanding of LXLE is that it is a "respun" version of LXDE and has its own desktop manager.
So, in addition to asking about how to properly extract ZIPPED theme and icon packages, so that they are recognized in LXLE's "Lxappearance" / "Customize Look and Feel" app,
how to invoke the included desktop environment / windows manager.
In other words, how do I get the icons and themes that I've downloaded to appear?
NOTE: LXLE has both GTK3 and GTK2 built-in.
Directions?
Thanks!
